Vacuum casting machines are expensive. But can you make one? YES… here’s a easy, simple construction, low cost vacuum arrangement to assist with you lost wax or lost PLA casting. Many of the parts you may already have lying around and the rest are cheap as chips. Building a vacuum system has literally saved me thousands and just as importantly it’s dramatically improved the quality of my metal castings… beautiful, clear and precise details matching exactly the original wax pattern, with no pockets, no porosity and no sand. This really is a cheap and simple solution to better lost wax casting! My thanks once again to Paul Hamler for partial use of his video. home made SIMPLE BUILD vacuum chamber - by VOG (VegOilGuy)
Vacuum Chambers are very versatile and useful. Unfortunately they're also expensive. But making one at home is surprisingly easy. This simple build is just a matter of making sure everything is air tight. Here I make my own vacuum chamber from scrap materials and plumbing parts, with very simple construction methods. Then it's time to try out the vacuum chamber with the classic marshmallow trial. Great fun. SUPPORT THIS CHANNEL IF YOU CAN SPARE A LITTLE... How to make an ELECTRIC Furnace (Foundry) for metal casting Part 1 by VOG (VegOilGuy)
How to Make an Electric Furnace (Foundry)at home for Metal Casting. Here’s my promised electric foundry build. It's design means it could also work nicely as a kiln. Using Grade 28 insulating fire bricks, homemade Kanthal Coils, Push button PID temperature control, big well insulated lid and plenty of room for my A6 crucible. To make life easier and safer, it’s even got a simple, safe electric hoist. And I’m going to show you, step by step, how I built this. With it, you can melt metals at home, indoors, using electricity without fumes or noise. Metal casting has never been so simple. This is Part 1 of this build. Please look out for: Part 2 - https://youtu.be/QOfCKiQjSds Part 3 - https://youtu.be/jHCnYy39Oxc I’d recommend you look at my other videos on: Make an EASY coil heating element winding Jig- https://youtu.be/I-5_MN5_Fmc and How to cut Fire Bricks the EASY way - https://youtu.be/YfhaguSAXuU Both these videos are very helpful to complete this build. 3D printing & using a Casting Tree for Lost PLA multiple Castings #pla4
Casting Trees are a great way to produce a large number of castings in one pour. But can this technique be used with a 3D Printer in Lost PLA? Yes! Jewellers and Ornamental Casters have been using this approach for years and I wanted to try it. In my last video I tried to make 5 pendants in one casting, but only 1 turned out okay. This time I try for twelve and almost nail it. With just a 3D printer and a little imagination, it's possible to make some incredibly detailed castings using the Lost PLA method. Check out the excellent castings of John Dersch, whose amazing Casting Tree stars in this video : www.orncastings.com If you'd like to print the Celtic Knot, I've placed it on Thingiverse here - https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3... and the Saxon Cross here - https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3... *** PLA USED HERE *** I used PLA+ from Amazon - https://amzn.to/2KU6b7s *** EQUIPMENT & PRODUCTS USED *** I often get asked where I buy my investment powder, what type of oven do I use, etc, so to make life easy I’ve made a list with links on my website here http://vegoilguy.co.uk/equipment.ph... *** GREAT RINGS & MORE *** These guys make excellent rings, pendants and more https://bit.ly/3dHl2P8 Get 20% discount with the coupon code VOG20 *** DISCLAIMER *** This video is for and educational and entertainment purposes. Making a Silicone Mold of a 3D Printed Part - Old Version
Watch how a medical training model is cast in resin. The process starts with a highly detailed 3D print, which is coated and smoothed with XTC-3D epoxy. Then a Smooth-Sil 936 platinum silicone block mold is poured, capturing every detail with virtually no shrinkage. Lastly, Smooth-Cast 320 urethane resin is cast into the mold, making the perfect replica. Several pieces can be cast from the same mold, or it can be archived for several decades in a mold library. --- Make It Now! with Smooth-On https://www.smooth-on.com/ https://www.facebook.com/SmoothOn https://twitter.com/SmoothOn https://www.instagram.com/SmoothOn https://www.google.com/+smoothon -~-~~-~~~-~~-~- Adult Supervision Required Keep Out Of Reach Of Children -~-~~-~~~-~~-~-

Casting Metal Parts into 3D Printed Molds
This video documents the process of casting metal parts in tin-bismuth alloy using 3d printed molds. The process involves common tools and supplies - a 3d printer, silicone rubber, a hot plate, stovetop casting alloy, and a dollar store skillet. This method can be used to cast a variety of materials, from chocolate to plastic, with the accuracy only limited to the precision and resolution of your printer. How to cast metal into 3D printed molds - https://learn.adafruit.com/metal-pa... I built a camera arm to document projects a few months ago. The joints are clamped down with rubber pads between them to prevent slipping, but I noticed the joint at the base kept creeping down over long periods of time (like while capturing time lapses). I decided to fix it with a locking plate like you'd find on C-stands, but wanted to avoid using a printed part that would chew itself apart after a few months of use. I built the locking plate using a method similar to the one I used to generate the waxes that are part of the Glaucus manufacturing process - https://learn.adafruit.com/soft-qua... 3d Printed Mold used to Cast Simple Polyurethane Parts
Here is short video on how I used a 2 piece Molding printed on a cheap 3d printer. This was used to cast very simple parts with Polyurethane. The Molding was made on a Tevo-Michelangelo and printed using cheap E-Case PLA (1.75mm) Printed at 225C and on a non heated bed. The molding is made of 2 parts and once assembled can be used to cast into. Once set the molding can be separated to allow easy removal of the cast parts. The Polyurethane used was Xencast PX30 - Soft Flexible Type Rubber
