3DN Acmer P2 Center Finder Jig

I've experimented and explored a few of the different ways to align project cuts on material, had a little bit of extra time and just came up with a quick way to facilitate doing so.

A little bit of thought went into it, and more time into making the video and writing up the instructions and description then actually into designing, cutting, and assembly.

Use it if you wish, or not.

Making The Finder:

Use 3 mm ply or acrylic. You may have to set the kerf in your laser software if you want a tighter fit. Glue up the parts as shown in the video and allow to dry.

Optionally, you can set the lettering in light burn to use fill mode as I did in the example.

Using The Finder:

Mark your material by measuring its center. I use the project center as the origin, and depending on the material I am using I will either use a temporary marker like a pencil or readily available ⅛” in dot labels. You can always safely use a 50% calculation top to bottom and left to right to minimize material waste with this tool when deciding where to place your project for cutting.

Simply line up your mark with the finder jig’s point by looking through the window and reset your origin.

That's all there is to it. This allows me to quickly set up my cuts without second-guessing placement.

 Enjoy.
